BIONICTILE by CERACASA, ALFA DE ORO AWARD FOR MOST INNOVATIVE PRODUCT IN CEVISAMA 2009.

This product, presented in CEVISAMA (10-13 February) received the ALFA DE ORO prize, awarded by the Spanish Society of Ceramics and glass (SECV) and CEVISAMA for most innovative product:
BIONICTILE® by CERACASA.

The process used by the ceramic BIONICTILE ® by CERACASA, transforms via catalysis the Nitrogen oxide molecules (NOx) emitted by vehicles and industry which cause acid rain, lung illnesses, irritations and climate change, into harmless NO3 thanks to the UV rays contained in solar radiation.

The product can maintain its properties indefinitely due to the agents contained within the composition of the glaze.

The inert nitrates in the surface of BIONICTILE are self-cleaning, easily and simply with rain, fog or high humidity, leaving the surface ready to continue destroying NOx in the air.





After months of research CERACASA, joined by FMC FORET and the ITQ from The VALENCIAN POLITECHNIC UNIVERSITY (Spain), have shown their commitment to the environment by creating a ceramic product which indefinitely maintains its NOx cleansing properties.


One metre square of BIONICTILE ® by CERACASA is capable of purifying 31.2mg of NOx per hour.


According to company sources: “A town centre with 200 buildings covered with BIONICTILE ® by CERACASA, each one measuring some 3000 m2, would purify the air of close to 82 Tn of NOx per year.” This is quite a revolutionary concept from a ceramic product which becomes a close ally for any architectural project dedicated to sustainability and respect for the environment.

BIONICTILE joins the EMOTILE family of ceramic products, which was also awarded with an ALFA DE ORO prize in 2007 and which has been widely used by architects and interior designers all over the world in over 2500 personalised projects.
